The opening ceremony of the monument took place in 2008 to commemorate the Apparition anniversary and the 15th anniversary of the Pope’s visit in Šiluva. Earlier, in 2003, during the Feast of Šilinės, the archbishop S. Tamkevičius consecrated the Home of Jonas Paulius II. That is the place for the preparatory course seminarians and recollections today.
